During the summer of 1983 I rode my bicycle from Ohio to Rhode Island via the eastern Canadian seaboard. Growing up near the coast of New England, I was alway frustrated that 99% of the coast was private property and the rest was over-regulated parks. I could never explore the coastline. The Canadian coast on the other hand was rugged, beautiful and largely uninhabited. It was pure bliss riding through Quebec, Price Edward Island and New Brunswick. The big negative were all the blackflies.
