During the summer of 1987, I rode my bicycle around about 1/3 of Austrialia. What I remember most about the country is the remoteness of the outback. I could cycle over 300 miles and just pass a few ranches and several hundred kangaroos. I loved riding and camping in the solitude of the endless lands that make up the Australian outback. Each night I enjoyed a fire while watching the sunset and listening to the dingos howl. If you like solitude and don’t mind monotonous scenery that doesn’t change for 100’s of miles this is the trip for you. Hills are minimal and water is plentiful (bring a water filter).
