Water? Lights? What’s that?

“The water’s going out!  Fill the buckets!”  All four of us scurried into action, filling buckets and pots with water - hopefully enough to keep us going until the powers that be decide to turn the water back on.

Last week, we got word that a water pipe up in the village had broken so we scrambled around filling buckets.  Apparently, the problem still isn’t fixed - there are days when we have no water for up to ten hours at a time.

But a few days later, the electricity also went off.  All day.  And nearly every day since then the power is off too.

Nobody seems to have any idea what is going on around here, but the water and power have been HUGE problems for over a week now.  Hopefully they’ll get the problem sorted out soon!

Edited to add:  We still have no clue about the water situation, but we’ve gotten bad news about the electricity - it’s being rationed.  The rains should have come to Ecuador about 6 weeks ago, but still nothing.  Farmers can’t plant, and hydropower plants can’t makepower. Right now, we are dealing with 8 hours of power outage each day -  rotating the times each day.  They say this will continue until March - YIKES!

And I was hoping that the rolling blackouts were only in Guayaquil…
