Please help me summarize

On my Facebook page I made a quick comment about how hard it was for me to condense three years’ worth of experiences into 300 words. A friend suggested I ask you, my readers, to help me to that – as you have a very different perspective than I do.  I know there are certain events that will always remain near and dear to my heart for personal reasons, but those aren’t necessarily the events that were most interesting to others.

So – if you tell other people about our trip, what are the things you tell them?  What was interesting?

Thanks for your help!

About Nancy Sathre-Vogel

After 21 years as a classroom teacher, Nancy Sathre-Vogel finally woke up and realized that life was too short to spend it all with other people's kids. She and her husband quit their jobs and, together with their twin sons, climbed aboard bicycles to see the world. They enjoyed four years cycling as a family - three of them riding from Alaska to Argentina and one exploring the USA and Mexico. Now they are back in Idaho, putting down roots, enjoying life at home, and living a different type of adventure. It's a fairly sure bet that you'll find her either writing on her computer or creating fantastical pieces with the beads she's collected all over the world.

I usually say something like, this family with two twin boys decided to bike all the way from Alaska to the bottom of South America. Their adventures include countless natural and cultural challenges. Along the way, the boys have grown from children into competent, confident young men ready to take on the world!

I really liked the video of the Patagonian Winds, “This is crazy, just crazy”

    Hi Nancy,
When I tell people about your amazing adventure they are invariably in awe at how someone can be away from home and ‘normality’ for so long. One thing that has very much been reinforced for me by following you blog is that home is where the heart is and that as long as you are together as a family you can be happy and ‘make it work’ anywhere…oh, and have a few adventures on the way too!

I usually say something like “2 teachers and their twin 11 year-old sons biked from Prudhoe Bay Alaska to Ushuaia Argentina in 33 months. …” Then I talk about your route. Mostly, though, people are interested in what you’re doing next, so I say “They’re in Boise figuring out what adventure they’re going to take next!”
