Grabbing life by the horns

I was looking for something in my blog today and found this post I wrote shortly before I left on this trip. I can certainly say I’ve done exactly that!

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming “WOO HOO! What a ride!”

That’s exactly how I want to live my life. Someday I’ll pedal away to that great sunset in the sky with a smile on my face and the knowledge that I’ve lived life.

I mean – I’ll look back on my life and say, “I’ve LIVED!” Yes, there’s no doubt that I’ll look back on it and realize that I made mistakes – in fact there have been times when I’ve downright screwed up. But mostly – I can honestly say I’ve grabbed life by the horns and taken advantage of every day God has given me.

I don’t want that final day to arrive and I look back on my life and say, “I wish I woulda…” I talk to so many people who say, “Someday I’d like to…yadda, yadda, yadda…” I don’t want to be that person.

So I’m heading out – out for the ride of a lifetime.
