Not much time, once again, but wanted to put up something to get you all up to speed. My back seems to have made a full recovery and I’m doing well. We left Pasto yesterday for Ecuador.
However, this morning, Davy woke up sick. He’s been having stomach trouble off and on since that day in Rosas, but it never lasted long. Last night he went to bed with an upset stomach and woke up this morning still with it. On top of that, his toe is really getting bad, and we want to get the surery done ASAP.
So – we made the decision this morning to split up once again. John and Daryl are coming on their bike. Davy and I left ours behind at the house of a friend, and came to Ecuador in bus. Once his toes have healed, we’ll head back across the border, get the bikes, and ride back to Ecuador.

You guys are having a rough patch, but you’ll get through it. I’m so glad to hear that your back has recovered!

I’m happy to hear your back is better. My son also had toe surgery on both of his big toes. I think your family is incredible. Thank you for sharing your trip with me.

Sorry to hear about the inconveniences.
It seems that experiences seem to have a way of interrupting the experience!
I know that you all will weather this as you have weathered other challenges.
Toe and tummy, slopes and back
Seem aligned – to attack
Spirit, will and travel knack
are just not somethings that you lack…
so we know that you’ll be back!
We’ll be here to keep track.

Fortunately, we were only 100 km away from the village when we made the decision to ditch the bikes, so it’s not a big deal to go back and get them in a couple weeks. I’m trying to find a doctor for the surgery, but it’ll be next week before it can happen!
