We went swimming in the Pacific Ocean today. The Pacific Ocean!!
I hadn’t even thought about until we got to the beach with Gloria and her whole, extended family. And then it hit me – we started at the Arctic Ocean. In Mexico we finally arrived at the Atlantic. And now – finally – we reached the Pacific!
Yes, I realize we “reached” the Pacific a couple weeks ago when we arrived here in Choluteca, but I didn’t even think about the ocean at all. It just ‘was’. But gosh darn – now that I think about it, I am pretty darn excited about visiting so many oceans in one trip!
The boys had a blast playing in the waves, even though they both ended up fried. I guess I didn’t put enough sunscreen on them…

Just got caught up on your travels over the past two weeks. I loved the video on Mondongo Soup. Sounds like Gloria and her family are very special people, giving back to the community. School is just about over for another year here, June 3. I will be back at it again in the fall. Do they have school year round in Honduras? Keep traveling safely.

Nancy: Wait till you get to Panama. There you can see both the Atlantic & Pacific oceans at the same time. Theoretically, in the lake (I can’t remember the name) where the Eastern locks and the Western locks meet, the two oceans meet. Of course this will definitely happen in a year or so from now when you finish your adventure/journey at the tip of Argentina. Love you all.

Enjoy your summer Evelyn! The long break here in Honduras is December and January, so they are right in the middle of the year now.
Harry – what a concept! I can’t imagine seeing both oceans at the same time. In my mind, they are sooooo far apart!
