I am always so humbled and honored to meet the people we meet along the way. It seems like around every bend in the road are more people waiting to welcome us into their lives and help us out in so many ways.
Esteban is a classic example. We first met Esteban a few kilometers out of Minatitlan. He and his friend, Ricardo, had gone out for a bike ride but Esteban’s tire had gone flat – the tube was shot and he couldn’t fix it. He called his wife to come pick him up, while Ricardo escorted us into the city.
But a short distance from the hotel, Esteban appeared once again – on his other bike. He had raced home, grabbed his other bike, and returned to help us get to the hotel. But his graciousness didn’t end there.
Later that night, he came in his car (along with his wife and kids) to take us out and show up around. The next day he popped in to the hotel to make sure all was well.
And this evening – he and his wife showed up with a big bowl of chicken soup for us! Yum!!
I hope that someday, somehow, we are able to give back to humanity for all they have done for us!

Esteban

The chicken soup was delicious!
