It’s OUT! (Laredo, Texas, USA)

The seatpost is free!! Yes, it’s horribly mangled – but it’s off the bike.

Wanna take bets on what will go wrong with the tandem next?

About Nancy Sathre-Vogel

After 21 years as a classroom teacher, Nancy Sathre-Vogel finally woke up and realized that life was too short to spend it all with other people's kids. She and her husband quit their jobs and, together with their twin sons, climbed aboard bicycles to see the world. They enjoyed four years cycling as a family - three of them riding from Alaska to Argentina and one exploring the USA and Mexico. Now they are back in Idaho, putting down roots, enjoying life at home, and living a different type of adventure. It's a fairly sure bet that you'll find her either writing on her computer or creating fantastical pieces with the beads she's collected all over the world.

Glad it has worked so far fairly well. Tell Daryl he’ll just have to stop gaining weight – no more tamales for awhile – just kidding Daryl. You will have a PayPal message tomorrow as usual – no need to respond. When are you crossing the border? Happy New Year and have a Grand 2009. Staying home tonight as usual – don’t like partying, getting old I guess. All is well here.

We’re staying put tonight as well – will be in bed early so we can take advantage of the quiet roads out of Laredo in the morning. It looks like we’ll cross the border in McAllen – three days away. We’ll most likely spend a couple days in McAllen, so we should be in Mexico within a week or so.

May the new year be much better than 2008. I hope you get the bike fixed so you can enjoy your journey. May 2009 be your best year yet. Keep the journals coming.
